I mean REALLY lock it?

Joshua (age three and a half) helped clear up after I had cut the lawn at the weekend.

We noticed a near neighbour had started a bonfire, so he went in "To tell mummy to close the windows"

He came back clutching my mobile phone, which was dialling 999.

I stopped it, and he said "Fire ..... phone 999"

Which is pretty smart I guess  Huh?

But I divert - the phone was in locked mode - so can you always diall 999 from a locked phone?  I thought the idea was to stop this?

I think all mobile phones can dial 999 and 112 in locked mode.

I have an old style flip phone which has no button until you open it up, as thing kept opening up on my old mobile even with keylock on.

Very annoying!

Even Pay as you go mobiles can dial 999 and 112 without any credit, don't think there is any way to prevent this unlees like colin the keys are not accessible until the phone is open, I spent 13 hours on the net on mine one night whilst the phone was in my trouser pocket, and I had forgotten to turn it off.  I make sure it's turned off every night before bed now.

I had mine on in my rucksack when i was travelling in Thailand. It was a Sony Ericson one with the joystick type. When i got home i had found my phone bill huge. Something had been pressing down on the joystick and was cycling through texting the first number on the list. Oops sorry work.

I've had two Sony Ericson's and they both did this, never again will I buy one of their phones my last one kept going on the internet for no apparent reason.

Like pictureperfect all I want is a phone that i can use for phoning people and texting.

This is my phone I can recommend. No buttons for it to mysteriously go off and you can also key lock it for extra protection. Also very Cheap  Grin

Commonly known as the 'handbag call'  Cheesy

GSM std allows phones to dial the predefined emergency number either while the handset is locked, without a SIM (or blocked SIM), or instead of the PIN. The GSM emergency number is 112 which maps to the real emergency No. of which ever country you may be roaming in. (unfortunately I worked for Nokia in a previous incarnation as a total Nerd - but now I can only see Dead Pixels).
