Mmmm.... well as the photography is company business I'm kind of hoping I don't get any gear from Santa this year. Grin

That said... the company did get another 5D and 70-200 2.8L IS USM and 580exII the other week so maybe it would be greedy to ask for anything else.

Perhaps I can just wish for lots of guys popping the question over Christmas dinner (especially in my area) so that there are lots of couples out there for all the photographers, florists, cake decoraters, venues and everyone else in the New Year.

I wish you all a full diary.

We're all buying the stuff from our company account, but for some reason, I feel less stressed about spending it at Christmas. So it's really a gift ot ourselves...by ourselves!

But still fun! Our computer now is finding it hard to cope with the work and we're running out of space fast on the other external HD. So it's all about making our job easier.

After two 2 o/clock and a 3 o/clock wedding so far this month and another 3 o/clock next week, on the 22nd, the shortest day of the year, a pair of D3's with their alleged brilliant performance at iso 3200 would be very nice  Smiley

I keep telling myself that with the vat off and the sale of my existing kit the price to change isn't that bad for a couple of full frame cameras.......................

I have asked for tickets to the Moulin Rouge on the last night of our honeymoon!  I'd be very disappointed if Santa bought me stuff for work  Grin

When in doubt...put the kettle on!!

I can't think of anything I actually want for Christmas....I've got so much stuff already without adding more to it?  Camera gear used to be the obvious choice and was an easy option but now the business is buying it I don't want 'work' gear for Christmas, so going full time has shot me in the foot for Christmas's.

I really, really like watches, but even then I'm struggling to justify another one....that's a hard question!

Paul - easy justification.

Read "Crete The Image" by Charles Green. He is an advocate of making sure YOUR image is correct (i.e. how you present yourself and your work) not just the images that you create. People are more likely to buy from a smart salesman rather than a scruffy one...

I was thinking the same just today as I walked around doing some Christmas shopping... my Timex Expedition is great if I am doing conservation work but not quite the right image for being a professional photographer. Maybe it is time for a D&G watch or a Rolex?

Now - I'm sure I saw some emails in my inbox for a genuine Rolex. Wonder how much they cost?  Grin Grin Grin Second thoughts: better not, I do want to be at the church at the correct time Roll Eyes

Rolex Submariner: £3795.00 for the sporty adventure types or a Rolex Daytona at £8500.00 for the up and coming, snappy dressing pro photographers.  Stick it on your Christmas list and start marking down on your calender and I'll have one out of the spare change?   Cool

What is it about men and watches?  Barrie is obsessed with them - his latest request is £11k!!  Mine was £15 on Ebay and it does a damned fine job and it doesn't cost £125 for a service and battery change in Switzerland like Barrie's current watch  Grin

Hi Bev,

I guess it's the same argument about cameras, half decent photographers can take cracking pictures with practically any camera from a Lubital to a Hasselblad, I guess when the drive is perfection, precision, quality, durability and that ever present 'bling' factor then the costlier the better!  However I agree, with you I've just bought a rather fine watch for £21, its hands are all in the right place, it works, it tells me the month and the day and it even glows in the dark and better still for no extra cost it can tell me what time it is....WOW!

I'd rather be a damn good photographer with a second hand piece of old time equipment that works, than a 'bling' artist who just happens to like Hasselblad jewellery?   Grin  No disrespect to my fellow SWPP members, who I'm sure are all seriously competant photographers with any gear!

Oh!  I also never go anywhere unless I have to without a suit, shirt and tie, pressed nice and crispy by my very own self!   Cool

LOL. I choose my watch on two basic premises.

1. will it cost me a bomb if I break it (I keep smashing them for some reason).
2. does it tell the day of the week as well as date and time - for some reason, since I gave up "the day job" I have no idea what day it is any more Wink

Personally I couldn't tell the difference between a £20 smartish watch and a blimey-I-didn't-know-they-were-that-expensive Rolex.

Of course... when the business is making *that* kind of money maybe I could just treat myself to something over £50 Grin

Hey Mark,

I've just had another look at your web site....it shouldn't be too long before you've scratched up enough judging by the images on there?   Grin
