At the risk of asking a daft question 'What do you need one for'

And if anyone says ' for making smoke' I will be seriously hurt and offended...     Huh?

What I really mean is what shots so you want smoke for and how much smoke etc do you need.
Perhaps there are other alternatives

It's a disco style one, you can pick them up for about 50 quid I think mate. They work really well, the trick is to not use much, because the room soon becomes full and every photo after you've finished comes out blurry haha so if your shooting make sure the smoke shots are the last you're gunna do  Smiley

Hi Guys

Just to add my experience of these things.  They are normally mains powered as it takes a lot of energy to produce the smoke.  They can be a pain as will only produce smoke for a limted time as the heater in them has to heat up to make the smoke and when producing the stuff it cools the element.  You also have to be careful what liquid you use to make the smoke as some of it will trigger smoke alarms etc etc.  The smoke cal leave an oily residue on anything in the room.  Food for thought.  Undecided

Good luck.
