PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Army dog handlers working in Afghanistan have a big drive on trying to get people to send dog treats out to them to give the dogs on Christmas Day.
One of the Soldiers is happy to have the parcels sent to him and he will distribute - it would be great if you could send a small parcel of treats (not dog food)
Keep parcels under 2 Kilos and they go FREE from any Post Office. The last posting date to arrive before Christmas is 30th November. Parcels to:

Before everyone sends stuff out, the MOD have asked people not to.  This address has been posted all over the internet and the postal service is swamped so that the soldiers families can't get packages out there.  I think it was started with the best of intentions but has got out of hand.

Obviously the 'big drive' worked then  partybeer  but I hope they sort it out so that the loved ones get their packages too.  I remember being delighted at getting an unexpected parcel from the Royal British Legion back in 1991 when I was in Saudi Arabia for the first gulf war - cheered me up no end!

Numbers don't start with the Morse code for S ...   Not even for scaley backs.

I'll check with a good friend of mine tomorrow if there are any issues with sending too many parcels.

As he's a senior officer at the BFPO (the army post service), he'll know if there are any problems, and I'll report back tomorrow....

I was asked by a friend to post this, but after a little research it would appear that this originally began as a private message to family members and unfortunately ended up on the web and went viral.

I think with regards the blockage of the military mail, this may have been a problem in the early days of the Afghan conflict but 10 years down the line and the infrastructure in place i thin kit is less of a problem.

With hindsight my concern would be the soldier in question having his number and name posted and ending up receiving hate mail from the anti war brigade.

Aah.  Amazing how easy it is to get confused sometimes - in this case, just three little dots.   Grin

It could be worse . . . the RMP have dog handlers deployed to Afghanistan to tackle the Taliban but constantly complain about not having enough leads.

For a bad joke like that - someone should set the dogs on John!

I spoke to a good friend in the BFPO yesterday, and he categorically stated that people should NOT send anonymous parcels against this request, as it will seriously slow down mail to soldiers (airmen / navy etc.) from their families etc.
