You know, I'd love this, if only to try my hand with MF but it's the price I can't swallow.

Any movement on it?

Not the same to me. Already been the negative route with with Eos1 and tbh I'd have to really get them lab scanned and that's a fortune.

35mm film and  6x4.5 or even better 6x7 is about 2 pounds to develop and you can buy a flatbed scanner with a fluid mount that will be better than you'll probably ever need in terms of quality.

creating files of over 1gb easily if you want...

it's a realy option and you can feel the quality of MF at a fraction of the cost.... and if you believe the maths at aroun 250M pixels... not 40  Wink

This may be true. But if I like MF then I'll want to go digital. Meaning I'd have to sell the first body.

The thing for me is that if I like MF then I'll use it professionally. For what I'd end up using it for there would 300 shots per session. Impractical on film.

Whilst I've said I'd love to 'try' MF there is a goal in mind in doing so. Film cameras don't fit into this for me.

Another thing is that MF Film will not look the same as 31mp from the H3D, better, worse, whatever the result I'm interested in how this specific cameras output looks like, not the mechanics.  Smiley

OK Chris, get some info on MF kit before buying anything.

I've got a 1970's Mamiya, which i can STILL fit on to a digital back....

A MF body, is a shutter /  mirror at the most... the lens and the back maketh a camera...

there's no such thing as a film MF body... but you can buy film backs and digi back and polaroid backs...

Not sure if this is a statement or a question...

so you're saying that fscanned film won't look the same?  i'd agree it'll look better!... Smiley

not sure what the point around output and mechanics means?

Andrew, these are for sale threads, not discussion ones. I'm after something, I have my reasons for going after that particular thing.

It's as if I'm considering buying something in a shop and you're standing over my shoulder questioning 'why I'm buying that jumper'.

Do you not like Rob, as it's his thread that's being spoilt.

Oh dear Chris if you were that upset about my comments you should have messaged me...

Rob apologies if we've crashed your thread...

Pleased you 2 chaps have had a healthy debate between film and digital' I can tell you both as I shoot on a Mamiya RZ11 6x7 film is fantastic.

BUT the hasseblad holds it's own against it in a host of ways' until you shoot and feel the Hasselblad you will never know' it gives a 90 meg Raw file with
amazing clarity and detail in the shadows.

My Hasselblad is a dream machine to use but each to their own.

Thank you for your debate found it rather funny.
Merry christmas to you both.
