Welcome Michelle. South Africa is definitely hot this time of year but generally only "sticky" around Durband and Natal in my experience. Wouldn;t want to live there for that reason, can't stand the humidity.

After leaving the Orange Free State after completing school, I lived in the Cape Town for ten years - no noticeable humidity, glourious long summers, top quality food and the most stunning scenery I have seen anywhere in the world. Now why did I leave....?   Wink

Whereabouts are you living?

Thank you all for your welcome messages.

David, you are correct, the hot, sticky part of SA, Natal is where I am locaed. In St Lucia about 280kms North of Durban. The scenery is spectacular and there are so many wildlife shooting opportunities I love it. But the humidity at this time of the year is a killer. Each year you forget about it until it comes round again!!!

Lived up in Kloof in Natal for a long time and been down where you are.  Three days for cloths to dry in 30deg weather and mold on everything that gets damp. . Oh man I SO don't miss that!  Although saying that, it's probably some of the most beautiful scenery this side of heaven. . .

Nedine when I visit my mother in Cape Town she hangs out the washing on the line and it is usually bone dry in less than two hours. The wind can be a bit of a pain sometimes but I did a lot of windsurfing and in summer it is nice and steady making it ideal. I had some relatives living in Hillcrest many years ago and remember enjoying a fantastic holiday there, with regular trips to Umhlanga not to mention two holidays in Amanzimtoti in the 80's. Never forget watching six sharks being caught from the rocks next to the neach in around an hour!
