Could be fun, but I think it would have to be organised for after midnight as the hotel guests will be using it during the day.

This is discussed every year and every year London wins because of the access and facilities needed. There are several major airports and it is easy to get to London from anywhere. The new venue has lots of cheaper options for accommodation nearby and the tickets are great value anyway! I think everyone would love to have the convention on their doorstep (just be grateful it hasn't relocated to Rhyl!)

Having attended a lot of training courses 'down south' all the way from my closest airport, Aberdeen, it is often MUCH cheaper to travel to London than any other regional airport ie Birmingham, Manchester etc. Please don't change it from London!!

Then it would have been on my old doorstep Looking hopeful of attending next year, just need to get confirmation that a yearly job can be changed to Feb instead of Jan. Ps I have a guitar (but you would if you heard me play)

Just watched the video and it all seems very exciting. I haven't been to any of the conventions yet and it's usually been due to lack of funds. Does the change of venue mean an increase in the cost of tickets though? i.e will it now be more expensive?

Helen, I'm hoping that part of the reason for changing hotels is that the Society might be able to negotiate a better deal for Convention attendees. The hotel cost is a big part of the expense of attending the convention. The Novotel was expensive even with the SWPP discount. Most people prefer to stay at the convention hotel rather than (cheaper) elsewhere and if the SWPP can negotiate a great discount I'm sure even more SWPP members will come along to next year's conference. (Hope the Jones gang read this.) SB

I didn't really mean the cost of the rooms/ accommodation (although someone has already posted on the thread that the Hilton rooms are more expensive than the novotel). I was just asking if the societies will be charging more for attendance to pay for the "upgrade" in venue or if the classes/ tickets will be around the same as before?! :-)

The big problem I've heard with the new venue is you only get the discount rate if you pay NOW! You can't book and pay on checkout (and get the discount) like you could at the Novotel. Is this correct?

Looks like I'll be there for less days in Jan How rubbish is that? I really enjoyed going for the full week this year but there is no way that can happen with these prices!
