Hi guys, just wondering if anyone can help me with this - I've got an invoice set up in Microsoft word - top bit is the customers details and letter, then tear off slip on bottom to remit with payment - only thing is I'm inputting the clients details twice at the moment (once top and again on the slip!)  Just wondering whether there's a way to "duplicate" the text - like when you type in the top half it auto fills the bits on the bottom???

I know a long way work-a-round using a data base field system but that means typing all the info into the data base first then formatting the letter - humph!  I'm sure there's a better way of doing it - anyone got any ideas??

Steph, there sure is.

Get your template document opened (you'll save it back as a template).

1. Go to Insert>Field and select field name of "Ask" you can have a prompt and give it a bookmark name,  (for example I use address, bphone, gphone, groomfirstname, groomsurname etc).

2. To re-use that later go to where you want to insert the field and go to Insert>Field and choose the field name of "Ref". Select the bookmark that you want to re-use.

So far so good.

Now you can save it as a template.

I'm a bit hazy on what I did to make it run automatically, it's a while since I set it up... I have mine as a template (save>save as template type .dot) and they run automatically or I have a few .doc files that I just do Ctrl+A (to select everything) then press F9 (to update fields).
