Hi, my name is Úna, Armstron Photography.  I am coming out of my shell and re-entered the world of photography. Have set up my Portrait Sutdio at home.  I am really looking forward to this seminar.  Can you tell me if I need to bring my laptop with me.  (I have CS2 on it)  I would prefer not to, the less I bring with me, the less I have to worry about, however, I really want to maximise my learning experience while I can (I have two young children at home, so this week away is a fantastic opportunity for me).  I have booked into your seminars and can't wait to learn from you.  Any advice you can give to me to prepare ahead of time would be greatly appreciated.  Úna

HI Una
You wont need a laptop but feel free to bring it along, the sminar is structured so you will get the most out of me in a day, if you have any specific problems these can always be addressed in open class or during a break.

If you want to prep a little for the day download the free trial of CS3 from Adobe and get your self familiar with the new layout, besides for that either email me or bing along any questions or how too's !

see ya soon

My capture technique isn't quite right and I have to 'save' the images. will you help us with how to save noisey images? simple color correction? very simple. I edit 800 plus images from a wedding and know how to use actions but just can't seem to find an auto correct that works consistently.

Looking forward to your seminar!

HI Greg
we will be covering a shoot from RAW files from the beggining to end, so fingers crossed this should address your problems.

Mark, I have not booked into your seminar yet (so this is all hypothetical as I don't know if there are any spaces left!).  As I have CS2 (and cannot see me being allowed to upgrade to CS3 in the near future!!) I wondered how relevant it would be for me.   I could really do with some help on workflow and seeing your process through from beginning to end but only if I'm going to be able to go home and follow, at least most of it, on CS2.  I have only recently started shooting in RAW and although I have had some great help through the Forum I think it would be very helpful to watch your process.  I will need to change my arrangements to arrive early enough on Thursday to attend if you think it would be still beneficial for me so would be very grateful if you could let me know what you think.  Many thanks. Seems like many have upgrade bc of the RAW processing. I usually don't shoot RAW. Any suggestions?

Well Greg
To be honest no I don’t have any suggestions, as there is not enough money in this land to make me switch to shooting any thing other than RAW.

The power of being able to tweak and image before processing should speak for its self, whether for drastic correction or more importantly for speed in colour balancing images on mass, the list could go on.

The post processing time of a RAW file compared to a jpeg file is far quicker with the likes of a wedding, with all the different lighting conditions and locations, however with CS3 you can now use many of the colour corrections and balancing of jpeg files in the same way as a RAW.

You don’t need to upgrade from CS2 to make use of the speed of Camera Raw in Photoshop as CS2 was a gigantic step up from CS, but CS3 makes it even quicker with even more facilities

I will be demonstrating RAW file processing and correction as a part of the CS3 class with a wedding at the convention and the only reason is the variety of lighting problems we encounter every day.

See you there I hope

HI ALi
Sorry, seems i missed your post, CS2 no problem, many of the techniques can be achieved in CS2 and i will be highlighting what is new in CS3.

The same with RAW files much is the same in CS2 & CS3 just some new boxes and sliders, but in all at least 80% of the day can be reffered to CS2
see you there.

Mark,
Many thanks for your reply.  I have unfortunately been unable to change my travel arrangements which means I will not arrive before 11.45am on Thursday.  Would it be disruptive for you or too confusing for me to join you at that point if there is room?
