Evening All:

I know of you must look at some of my questions some times and think why is he asking that. The truth is when I,m not working for me. I work as a Teen Programmer for our local Youth Center. I have 6 teens of various ages that I see twice a month. Quite often the questions I ask of you are the ones they have put to me. Please understand. Helping kids stay on the right track is very personal to me. And I try and use the various Arts as a means of getting these kids into something that will for one keep them out of trouble. Secondly if I can be instrmental in helping a youth start a art based career.

Thats truly what I enjoy most. For those of you who have answered my post. I thank you from the bottem of my heart.

Will, good for you. You keep asking, sir. Cheesy

My kids seem to pick up on fads. Right now it is creating frame-by-frame videos on their camera-phones. A while back my eldesst was painting everything in a particular style. I try to encourage it where I can but if you find an answer to this one I want to know it too!

Hi Will,

Good for you, keep it up!

I've spent some time training and working with young people too, many moons ago I used to work as a trainer/instructor teaching young people basic trade craft to get them into employment.  Sadly I find the whole system totally corrupted with local council officialdom, jobsworths and CRB paranoia so I'm out of it as have many whom I know who used to think working with kids was great.

However, wherever I get an opportunity I still dip in ever now and again, I'm currently doing some business volunteering with the Young Enterprise North East people to go into schools and talk to kids about life in the real world.

That's part of my full-time job.

these days I show them how to make ringtones on a Mac.

They are also into free running, so I show them how to make videos and dvd's again using the iLife suite.

I also do a special kind of improv with the more confident ones.

There are all sorts of things really.

But I'm based in and Arts College.

I'm in charge of transition for vulnerable pupils between primary schools and high school. I'm also a mentor and support pupils and families with children having either additional educational or behavioural needs...or just going through a rough patch.
