I thought the idea was that you were able to track your letter or parcel online with this

I've just spent dont know how long hanging on for an advisor, and gave up, my letter has apparently not been entered onto the system yet, well of course that possible I only posted it 9th October!!

Suppose I have to send another letter and just keep wasting money for letters not to get anywhere

What they say is that they can not track a recorded delivery until it is delivered.

They can't always track it when it *is* delivered. I had one I posted to someone. It couldn't be found on the system. I sent her an email and she said that it had been delivered - apparently just not recorded Sad

They should scan it at the post office then at the sorting office then at the recieving sorting office then at the rounds sorting frame then signed by the reciever then entered into the system as delivered so they should be able to tell you something.

Check with the recipient - Earlier this year sent out recorded delivery after a week system was saying not yet delivered, so held on for about 20 mins to speak to an customer service bod only to be told to phone back in another week as items aren't condidered to be lost until 14 days after posting,

Phoned client to apologgise for the delay and she informed me it had been left on her doorstep the day after I posted it.

One of the newer assistants who now works with us spent about a decade working for the Royal Mail at Clerkenwell sorting office to be precise.  According to him - and he seems a reliable chap - each week, two skips worth of undelivered mail gets recycled.  I've had red cards from my posty on two occasions stating the I need to sign for something and when I get to the sorting office (Harlesden in my case) within the stated times on the card, there is no record of what I am supposed to have had delivered.  On the last occasion, after several letters of complaint I received an apology from Royal Mail with a book of 10 first class stamps.  Now that's customer service!  Sadly DHL and UPS are no better - the former played football with the box carrying £2000 worth of L glass from Calumet - either that or they used it as a step block to reach higher packaging.  Very frustrating.
