Me too, mainly for the business school as 2 days seminars for £99 is a real bargain. Plus the trade show saves me a seperate trip to Focus in February.

I wasn't an SWPP member last year so I didn't go to much of the convention other than to see Jerry Ghionis who was a great speaker and well worth going to see. I'm planning to see David Beckstead at the '08 convention ... has anyone been to one of his seminars before?

I've not done an SWPP convention. I'd be interested to hear about comparisons to the Focus trade show..?
Thanks

The SWPP Convention is definitely one not to miss! Not just because I am one of the speakers, but because it's packed with education and the tradeshow is fantastic! I have attended many conventions both as a speaker and attendee and this is my favorite one of all. The membership is friendly and sharing and the vendors are incredibly helpful.
Check out the schedule and you will see they have all the top speakers in the world there. I am excited to be there again and hope to meet many of you. Having not been to FOCUS, I can't compare that, but I can compare for many others. This is top notch and you will keep busy every moment there.

I only did the trade show at the last one but I found that it was a lot easier to get to speak to the suppliers than at Focus. This is probably due to most of the attendees being from the SWPP rather than Joe Public. In fact I was quite surprised at how many suppliers were there and I came away with plenty of information. I'll be going again in January, only to the trade show again but this time I shall be staying over for the Saturday evening party.

I can confirm that it is much easier to see suppliers at the SWPP convention than at Focus. I really struggled to see who I wanted to do last year at Focus but had very little trouble at the convention. Also, I spoke with Canon at the SWPP convention and they said they don't do Focus anymore.
The volume of speakers they have there is great too. I find it very motivating and inspiring.
I doubt anyone would be disappointed.
And by the way, I can vouch for Marilyn. She is a very good speaker and the work she does is beautiful.
Regards, Christina

It's a shame to only go to the trade show and Party when there is so much more to offer.

The convention has no comparison to Focus; this is a true convention rather than just a trade show, its up close and personal with the new products as well as time to talk seriously with the trade. The line up of speakers is excellent with something for every ones taste, even though I was a speaker last year I went to many of the seminars and found them really worth the money. Focus is still a huge exhibition and still really worth going to as well, especially if you are looking at something specific, but the convention is for photographers in the real world and not just fantasy.

Never been, Really fancy going for the seminars etc, but being from ireland not sure I can justify the expense of the whole trip, flights, hotel etc. I might win the lottery in mean time other wise will just have to read about it.

If that is where Shrek lives in Scotland and photographers lock their keys in the boot of very flashy new cars then yes, I think I must be the same one. Funny, as when I booked the Business School I was wondering if you were the same Suzi.

Hello everyone, My name is Claude S. Ayakawa and I am scheduled to present a portrait program at the SWPP 2008 convention on Saturday, January 19th from 12:30 to 2:30 pm The title of my program is "AN EYE FOR THE LIGHT" and it will be a illustrated presentation on the way how I use natural light to create all of my environmental portraits. After being in business for forty two years in Hawaii, I am now semi retired but is still accepting assignments. For those of you who are not familier with my work, please visit my website at http://www.claudesphoto.com My website features just a general collection of my professional images but a large body of my work consisting of over 250 images can ben seen at the Professional Photographers of Hawaii's website at http://pphawaii.org This will be my very first trip to Europe and to the U.K. and I am looking forward to the trip and meeting many of you who will be there. The trip is just about eight weeks away and I must admit, I am getting very excited. -Claude S. Ayakawa
