Hi Terrie,
I am thinking of entering the comp this year.
I know this sounds like a daft question, but is the 20" x 16" dimension the overall size (including the mount) or does the print have to be 20 x 16 and then a mount if required goes around the image?

Do mounts have to be used?  If so, is there a recommended size?
Is there a published criteria of what the judges are looking for?  Or at least guidelines of what is to be expected?

I guess at £10 a go; I want to make sure I am doing it properly!

20x16 is the size including the mount, the image can be any size within that mount.

all entries must be mounted, most people use board mounts but its up to you as long as the overall size doesnt exceed 20x16.

there are guidlines on the monthly competition page of the website, the judges follow similer criterea to this. the judging is open so you are welcome to come along and see how things are done.

good luck and i look forward to receiving your images.

Hi Terrie,
Thanks for your email...
Just out of interest, what are the prizes this year, and how many entries do you expect?

Sorry Geoff  Sad

For the past 4 years the sport category has only had a handful of entries...so unfortunetly we decided to focus our attention in different areas.

I'm intending to sit in and watch some of the judging at this year's convention, but I haven't been to anything like that before. What is the format and protocol?? Do we need to sit in on a whole session, or are people able to walk in and out. I will be getting to Hammersmith around lunchtime on the Thursday, so hopefully will make the whole afternoon slot, but I don't want to walk in if we arrive after it has started and this is going to disturb the whole process. Any idea of what time the afternoon judging will start (or are the judges not allowed a lunch break  Wink )

thanks

Hi Carole

You enter the room from the back so you can pop in and out as you want.  Smiley
